The zero hour of the successful concept of EGLO lamps occurred in 1969 when Ludwig Obwieser established the company. The development of its first premises in Pill in the Austrian Tyrol in 1976 represented another important milestone.

 

In the mid-1980s EGLO finally started business as one of the leading manufacturers of lamps. Expansion to new markets was preferred and the opening of its first business enterprise in Germany in 1986 represented the cornerstone of this globalization. Along with progressive accession to new, attractive markets 37 business enterprises were established throughout Europe, which perform marketing activities independently.

Manufacture and Sales

The main branch of activity of the entire EGLO group is the manufacture and sales of decorative lamps for residential premises. The main companys target group is sales partners, e.g. wholesalers, building fairs and furniture stores which, owing to their market position, have a high turnover of goods and require short-term delivery dates.

 

With more than 2,500 items, the spectrum of products contains a complete range of lamps for residential premises from tendentious high-voltage halogen lamps to powerful wall and ceiling lamps as well as Florentine lamps, to table lamps, floor lamps and outdoor fittings.

Approximately 900 Employees!

EGLO employs approximately 900 employees and, with its annual turnover of approximately € 235 million represents one of the biggest European manufacturers of decorative lamps for residential premises.

Along with progressive accession to new, attractive markets 37 business enterprises were established worldwide, which perform marketing activities independently.

There are approximately 250 highly-educated employees in the Head Office in Pill, who are entrusted with the EGLO enterprise business management. In particular, the following sections such as development, purchase, production control, logistics, sales, marketing, financial management and operating organization and data processing are performed here.

 

EGLO Lighting Australia was established at Edwardstown, South Australia, and first opened its doors to the public in November 1998.

 

During the course of its operation, EGLO Lighting Australia has maintained its focus on wholesale distribution and commercial projects.  Thanks to our two manufacturing plants based in Hungary and China, we are able to maintain competitively low pricing and our quality continues to be of a high standard due to rigorous on-going testing and meticulous Quality Assurance processes.
